I am a Disney freak. There, I said it. I love all things Disney. When a new Disney movie comes out, you can bet I’ll be sitting in the front row of the theater, devouring the Reese’s Pieces I “illegally” smuggled in. I’ve thought about what household items I can sell (do I really need that food processor?) so that I can buy a plane ticket to check out Disneyland’s newest park in Shanghai. To me, magic is synonymous with the Disney brand. As a company, they’ve captured the hearts of millions of devoted fans. When I see a television advertisement for a Disney theme park, movie, or event, I get excited. I mark it on my calendar. I count down the days before every Disney trip. When I tried to think about how I could incorporate Disney into my upcoming wedding, (and it’s clear others have as well – “Disney weddings” remains one of the most popular Pinterest searches) invitations immediately came to mind. Invitations and save-the-date cards are one of the most essential parts of planning a wedding. They set the tone for what your guests should expect on your wedding day. For most of your guests, it’s also the first “glimpse” they receive into your wedding. Above all, invitations should create feelings of excitement and anticipation for your big day. I want my guests to feel the same way about receiving my wedding invitation as I do when I finally get to eat a Mickey chocolate ice cream bar. Okay, perhaps that’s a bit presumptive on my part. But truthfully, to my fellow Disney lovers – what better way to set the tone for your wedding than to send a Disney-inspired invitation? Of course, it’s not like Goofy is going to be walking around signing autographs at your wedding, but a slightly Disney-themed invitation is just one little way to incorporate an extra “touch” of the magic we know and love into our special day! If you’re looking for “official” Disney invitations, look no further than the Disney Weddings official website. From elegant “Cinderella”-inspired invites with a touch of white shimmer and sheer blue ribbon to intricate water lily designs from “Princess and the Frog,” Disney Weddings features an array of subtle and classic invitations inspired by the princess films we know and love. Their website features a locator to find a store near you, or Invitations by Dawn online carries their products. If you couldn’t make it through five minutes of “Up” without crying, you’ll know that Carl and Ellie’s love story was SO TOUCHING. What better way to celebrate that true love never gives up than with custom wedding invites? This personalized wedding invitation suite by TheInkedLeaf is inspired by the Disney/Pixar film and features a drawing of Ellie's grape soda bottle-cap badge. The directions card shows the famous Paradise Falls with an illustration of Carl and Ellie's house at the top. NulkiNulks spectacular invitations will instantly transport you to Agrabah for an Alladdin-esque affair. The Moroccan collection features an array of luxury wedding invitations, many of which feature intricate cutout patterns and crystals. These invitations would be perfectly suited for the over-the-top affair where Alladdin attempts to seduce Jasmine by posing as ‘Prince Ali’: One of my favorite, and unfortunately more underrated Disney characters is the ever-wise Grandmother Willow tree from “Pocahontas.” Ensure that Grandmother’s wisdom is not lost forever with a wedding invitation from Minted. The designers offer dozens of other products with the same design, enabling you to brand your entire wedding if you so choose. Channel your inner warrior princess with these powerful and festive invitations that remind you of “Mulan.” Designed with international couples in mind, the traditional Chinese design features bilingual wording and a festival dragon lurking behind a colorful vine. Invitations set the mood for your wedding, so don’t send them out haphazardly just to get them done. Remember that your wedding is ultimately YOUR wedding. “Disney magic” makes me happy. If you commit to choosing invitations that make YOU feel happy and excited, your guests will likely respond in a similar fashion - because they know and love YOU for who you are!
